About Us

Total Rail Solutions is a small, independent rail consultancy and safety services provider.

Infinitely flexible, from On Track Plant Planning, Delivery & Site Management to trackside litter & vegitation control & clearance, TRS works under a "One Team One Objective" philosophy whilst offering the highest levels of personal and professional service to all our industrial clients.

How it began:

Total Solutions Southern Ltd, the parent company of Total Rail Solutions, was incorporated in 2007 mainly as a consultancy business. In mid 2008 the current management team moved over from a previous employer after they went into administration and set about developing TRS into other markets within the rail industry and to drive the business forward with particular attention being paid to the Operated Plant market as the management team was drawn from people with a strong and successful track record in this field.

Since then Total Rail Solutions won the coveted Rail Plant Company in Possessions License in August 2009 and has since supported and supplied some thirty five construction companies on most of the major projects on the UK rail infrastructure. Upon the award of the POL then embarked on a major investment programme which has seen us invest heavily in procuring our own fleet of machines and attachments (currently a fleet of 10 RRVs and 20 RRV trailers) which have all be  and at present we are the only company to run a complete fleet of service braked machines and trailers (promoted by the ORR as best practice).

The business has grown through the three years since incorporation from a £200k turnover in 2007-2008 to a £4.8million pound turnover in 2009-2010. Our aim is to continue our steady growth through the next year and beyond.

At TRS, we share our client’s objectives, responsibilities and ultimately their successes. We believe that full customer satisfaction can only be attained by our staff being well trained, and given the skills and knowledge to carry out their jobs to the highest standard possible.

 We encourage our staff to develop their skills, and provide financial backing to enable them to attend courses to learn and improve. We believe in building long term relationships with our clients, based on honesty and integrity, and being prepared to go that ‘extra mile’ to ensure we are successful. It is no coincidence, that most of our work is repeat business with long term clients.

We believe we are very well placed to service the needs of all our clients operated and non-operated plant requirements. We have enjoyed great success both operationally and commercially in this sector by investing in the latest plant and systems.

our fleet is all fully compliant to RIS-1530-PLT, and all our safety critical staff are employed (not agency) and trained to the highest possible standard. We have an experienced dynamic operations team, who work smart to ensure we deliver our services successfully, and in a commercially viable way.

We realised the need to streamline our business to compete, and meet the cost saving targets set by the ORR for Network Rail, which have been cascaded down through the supply chain. We recognise embrace, and invest in innovative ideas that can help our clients to continue to provide good value, working solutions to the industry.
